During menopause, declining estrogen levels reduce oil production and weaken the skin barrier. This means your skin loses moisture more easily, leading to dryness, tightness and discomfort.
A weakened skin barrier makes your skin more reactive to ingredients, temperature changes and environmental stress. This is why products that once worked can suddenly feel irritating.
Some actives can still be used, but many people find they need to reduce frequency or switch to gentle, barrier supporting skincare during menopause
Focus on barrier repair, gentle cleansing and deep nourishment rather that aggressive treatments.
